HELLO SAINTS! I have some great news to share with you. Pre-season training begins for 13-17 YEAR OLDS at the The West Island YMCA for girls and boys. This program fits in to our rugby development plan and it's John Lavery approved:) You can give this info to any of your friends too. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity.

This training will get you better prepared for your high school season.

A big part of injury prevention is getting your body strong and ready for contact.

* Sessions run Fridays 6:30pm to 8:30pm STARTING JANUARY 13th.
* Cost: $25 registration fee for the year plus $3 per session.

You will work with CERTIFIED AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINERS, who teach you generalized sports conditioning, reactive agility, functional movement, core strengthening, weight training techniques, plus boxing, b-ball, soccer, movies, etc... until 10pm for those interested.

To avoid a backlog at the counter on Friday night, try to drop by anytime between 4pm at 9pm and ask for Greg Thomas. He will be happy to register you. Tell him you're a SAINT:)

Held on Monday, Aug 8 - there was a huge touch rugby game, obstacle courses, hot dogs, t-shirts, and Saints stuff for sale.... and "special" drinks for parents. All proceeds went to our U18 Saints who are off to Nationals. Thank you Stone!

Here we go.....I'm just waiting for the bus driver to confirm - but for now, here are the details.

Meet at Ecole St-George at 9:30am. The cost is $10 per person. Players, parents & fans are welcome. (the bus is $750 - whatever we don't collect, the club will cover the rest :)

Our games: 1pm, 3pm and 4:20pm. We play at Twin Elm Rugby Park - located at 4075 Twin Elm Road, Nepean, ON, K0A 2Z0.

Good luck to our U18 teams traveling to Quebec City on Saturday. Games are on the Plains of Abraham - bus leaves ESG at 7:30am so don't be late.

There's a lot going on with the SAINTS in July!!!!! (and it's the club's 30th Anniversary too)

UK Tour People & U18s and "graduates" of the Saints program - this is your chance to give back:) If you can donate a couple of hours of your time this Sunday, please reply and sign up for duty at the field 9am.

On Sunday, July 10th, our club is hosting our 5th Annual Youth Jamboree.

There are 5 clubs participating: Saints, Gaulois, Chelsea, Barhaven & Sherbrooke M16.

This year we will be collecting food items and donations for our town's food bank.

I'll be asking all participants to contribute a non perishable food item.

Plus...all profits from the canteen will be donated to the town's food bank....a good cause.

U8s played like superstars.
U10s WIN their division.
U12s had very small numbers (ok 2 kids) due to last minute cancellations - thank you to RCM and the other clubs who filled in for the games.
U14s play some great rugby, and in the spirit of the game subbed in to help our friends on the Chelsea team.

Thank you to all the parents who brought their kids out. The rain held out until the last game of the day. Our hosts (Tremblant) were very gracious and put on a fantastic show. A special thanks goes out to Chris, Craig, Josee and Bill for stepping in as referees at the jamboree. WHAT A GREAT CLUB!!!

Congrats to all Saints for a great performance this year! The Girls won their semi final against Sherbrooke and went on to win the Quebec U18 Championship in a great final vs. CRQ. Final score was 31-10 and Kimm was named player of the match. Our boys team is a class act, and won the Consolations after 2 hard fought games against TMR & CRQ. We're so proud of you!

Thank you parents for coming to cheer everyone on! And thanks to all the coaches for their dedication over the season. Keep in touch for further Saints news: fall/winter training, youth jamborees, junior tour to Ireland???!!!! What? Yep, you heard me. We'll talk ;)

Congratulations to the Junior Men for placing 5th over all this season. They will play a round robin to compete for the Plate. Junior Women finished 1st over all, and will play Abenakis in the semi final. All games will be played at Bishop's College School in Lennoxville on Sunday.

The Quebec Games were held in Gatineau and the Saints represented the Lac-St-Louis Region in Rugby. A beautiful day, and a great day for 7s!!! The girls came home with a bronze medal, and the boys combined with 2 players from Mont-Tremblan to put on a show for their fans. We received some great news that Zach Cormier & Nick Messina were selected for the U17 Canada camp!!!! GO SAINTS!!!

A few notes from our hosts:

Girls will play 4 games each. Boys will play 5.
This is a competitive event with regional jeux du Quebec medals awarded. Championship game will have 1^st place team play 2^nd place team from round robin.
The demonstration sports are being presented collectively at one site – Hormisdas-Gamelin high school in Buckingham. Rugby is the only event on the one field.
We will have a BBQ and refreshments on site – expect to pay 5$ for your meal: hot sandwich, Gatorade or water, fruit and a snack bar.

Here we go folks!!! We're headed for the Nation's Capital. Please make sure to bring snacks, plenty of water, sun screen, hats, sun chairs, a cooler of ice. There will be a canteen on site, but no stores for quite a distance.

Phew! Did we need a pool on the sidelines! Thank you to all parents who came to cheer on the Saints, and to Hayden for bringing those tents. You saved us!

The heat didn't stop our teams from playing some great rugby. Here are the scores for the day:
Boys lost to Irish 27-5 but the game was tied at the half. Great effort by the boys.
Then they won 21-0 by default to TMR but played a second match against a combined team of TMR,Que,TRiv, the game ended in a tie 12-12.

The Girls played a great game vs Quebec, but lost in the last 5 minutes with Que scoring a try in the corner. 5-0. Then a great game vs Sherbrooke - some great support on the field and excellent individual plays ended in a win 24-5.

To top the whole day off - the ANGELS took the field against Ormstown and played some 9s rugby (7s with 2 extra backs). The game was won by Ormstown 15-0, but those ANGELS did a great job!

A special thanks to Gill Florence for being my saving grace :) The girls missed you at practice yesterday!

Progressive Rugby with Roy Harvey

On May 8th, coaches from around the province and Ottawa attended a "Coaches Corner" to discuss the development of youth rugby. Congratulations to Roy Harvey who was presented the Volunteer Sport Administrator Award for his Progressive Rugby program. It's taking off! Many clubs will be using the program to start up and develop their own youth program. Thank you to the sponsors Coaching Canada and Investors Group.

Saints call for volunteers

Every year, Lindsay Place High school provides Christmas dinner for the Old Brewery Mission. This money goes directly to providing essential funds to the brewery's operation. This year, they are asking the Saints for help. All it takes is a few hours of your time on Saturday December 12th - 1pm to 6pm. Grocery Baggers at the MAXI in Dorval.If you have the time, please lend a hand. The more the merrier as many hands make light work.

For boys and girls 10-17 years old.

Lunch is not provided so bring snacks, water and appropriate clothing.

Rugby Quebec announces Junior Development Plan

Last night's conference call concluded that there will be a number of events scheduled over the summer to promote junior rugby across the province. We will participate in these events whenever possible PLUS we'll book exhibition matches with local clubs. See details on the Side Bar Schedule.

Brush up on your skills and start getting in shape for your high school seasons. You're welcome to attend all or part of the sessions (parents too). Our club coaches are taking turns running the sessions. Please bring $2 to cover the cost of gym rentals.

Tuesdays 7-9pm at Ecole St-George, side entrance.

In the meantime, study hard, eat well and do your crunches and push-ups!
